Dr. Evans is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and Professor at Loyola University Medical Center and has been practicing for nineteen years. Dr. Evans focuses his practice on sports medicine, in particular, student athletes at the high school and collegiate level. Dr. Evans serves as team physician for multiple local schools including Loyola University, Lewis University, University of St. Francis, and Riverside-Brookfield High School. A particular interest is arthroscopy of the knee, shoulder and hip which is a significant part of his clinical practice and a focus of his teaching, research and speaking engagements. In addition, Dr. Evans serves as the Director of Surgical Simulation Education and Assessment at Loyola. In this role he has expanded simulation education initiatives for all specialties across the medical center as well as training medical and nursing students. He also spends time developing and refining the orthopaedic surgical skills curriculum at Loyola.

In addition to his clinical practice and teaching within Loyola, Dr. Evans is very active in teaching outside of the university. He co-chairs the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Fundamentals of knee and shoulder arthroscopy for orthopaedic residents and has taught a vast number of arthroscopy courses with the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA) and AAOS. Dr. Evans also has a great passion for working and teaching internationally. He has served as head team physician for the Men’s USA National University hockey team since 2010. As a lifelong hockey player and coach, this opportunity has combined his personal interests in hockey with a love for sports medicine.

A further aspect of Dr. Evans practice includes his role in multiple professional societies and journals. In addition to his role as President of the Illinois Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons (IAOS) he is also the assistant editor for social media for the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine and chairman of the inaugural Electronic Media Editorial Board at the OJSM. He is an active member of the editorial boards of the American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM) and the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine (OJSM), and a reviewer for the Journal of Surgical Education.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Evans is a proud father of two great kids, an avid hockey player and coach, skier, and scuba diver. He is also an enthusiast of lacrosse, swimming, football, international travel and computers/technology.
